The pay-per-click method is the method most preferred by affiliates, for their site’s visitor would only have to visit the advertiser’s site for them to gain money. The other two methods, on the other hand, are better preferred by merchants, as they would only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor would actually buy their products.
Getting much profit on affiliate marketing programs, however, does not depend so much on the compensation method is it does on the traffic generated by your site. A website that can attract more visitors would generally have the greater chance of profiting in affiliate marketing programs.

As an affiliate, one way to increase your sales is to contact the merchant of the product or service you are promoting. Working with merchants can save you some time as well as heartache.
Realistically, who knows the product better than the merchant? You can contact them and begin working with merchants by first asking them for advice on marketing strategies. They should be able to provide you with some of the best strategies that are working for other affiliates in order to make sales. By working with the merchant you will also be showing them that you are determined to succeed in your affiliate business.
Contacting the merchant will show that you are enthusiastic about promoting their product or service. Your merchant will recognize your efforts and will provide you with the necessary resources and information. They may even boost your commission rates!
You can try emailing your merchant and if they do not respond, you may want to try again. If there is still no response, you better think about whether or not you want to continue this partnership. This lack of communication could be an indication that there will be other problems with them, such as payment.
Beware of merchants who make big promises, for example, they may set a high payout rate. This just means that you do not get paid until you have reached a certain set amount of money. They fully know that very few people will meet this payout rate each month.
